Image File Exchange Exercise

Post-Processing Image File Exchange Exercise Conducted by Mark Wainer and Huntington Wiherill – June, 2020

On this page you will find display images derived from an Image File Exchange Exercise conducted by Mark Wainer and Huntington Witherill. The exchange took place in June, 2020. The purpose of the exercise was to explore and contrast the differences between various photographers’ working methods and decision-making processes, resulting from the post-processing (and subsequent discussion and critique, thereof) related to images that were/are originally conceived of (and captured) by a photographer other than ones’ self.

Please Note– While the extensive discussion and mutual critique which accompanied the combined post-processing (in this instance) remains beyond the scope of this image display page (and the accompanying essay) those all important critique-based discussions constitute the primary objective (and principal benefit) of the Image File Exchange Exercise, itself. Nevertheless, it is hoped that the images displayed herein might (if nothing else) help to encourage and inspire other photographers to give the exercise a try, for themelves. The potential rewards and benefits of doing so could not be over-estimated.

Preliminary Image Choices

As a preliminary part of the Image File Exchange Exercise, each photographer was given a choice of three (3) different images from which to select one for post-processing. Shown immediately below are the image choices that were initially offered by each photographer – and from which the above selected images were subsequently chosen for post-processing.
